The cliffside restaurant overlooking the Blue Grotto, Capri, Vacanze Italiane, is a treasure trove of flavors for connoisseurs of seafood. Under a thatch roof, the smart beach club atmosphere, provides panoramic views and features azure blue tables; a series of sun decks with white cabanas and a stone staircase leading down to the sea.
On the menu, resident chef Giovanni Bavuso, has created a sublime gastronomic experience, starting with the Plateau Royal, a celebration of assorted raw fish, from clams and scampi, to tuna and cuttlefish: a veritable feast of Mediterranean flavors.
Main courses include out-of-this-world spaghetti alla chitarra with sea urchins and breaded black cod medallions. The meal concludes with a visit to the aptly named Temptation Room, lined with bright majolica tiles, where a rich selection of sweets, from the Neapolitan pastry tradition await: babà with rum, caprese cake, tarts and sfogliatelle.
